Department Breakup

Most agencies tend to be very departmentalised, with each department doing one thing, specialising in one thing, and being very good at doing that one thing over and over again to the surprise of no one. I think it’s getting worse, with traditional agencies inventing more and more departments. It’s not just accounts, planning, creative and media, now you have things like ‘engagement planning’, ‘connections planning’ and so forth. That’s not us; we have one department and it’s called the idea department. Planners, writers, art directors, designers, all with their particular fortés, all grouped together to collaborate on something that hasn’t been done before.
